Bourbon Banana Pie

Here I am posting a recipe...I know it's pretty hilarious. I'm not the best chef in our home and I'd prefer to be the one baking instead. Disclaimer, I stole this recipe from a good friend of mine and I messed it up both times I made it. My photos show otherwise. In the end, I will say it was delicious, even if the consistency was more that of a pudding than pie.

First, you are going to caramelize brown sugar and butter on the stove top. You'll also add in one chopped banana and cook that down as well.

Since it's fall I also wanted to add a twist to the recipe! In my obsession with essential oils, I decided to add Nutmeg Vitality oil. Just one drop! It's a strong one, so no need to add more than that.

Once everything has caramelized, set it aside to cool down. *This is where I messed up the process and added it to the pie filling before it cooled down. Don't do that. You'll regret that decision.

While the banana mixture is cooling, follow instructions on the pudding packet for the pie filling. Once you have completed that add milk into the pie filling mixture. I'd say around half of the container. Once that is all combined pour this mixture into pie crust. You can make your own, but who really has time to do that these days? I bought a regular ole' graham cracker crust the first time and the second go around I wanted to add chocolate to the mix, so I used a chocolate crust.

Mix the cooled caramelized banana concoction into the pie filling. Top with cool whip and add the second banana on top for decoration more flavor purposes. Tada! You have a perfectly whipped banana bourbon nutmeg pie/pudding dessert!

Also, shout out to my helper! Could't have done it without you my little man.
